Elpherys

Location: Near Space (Pact Worlds region)

Physical Characteristics:

  • Diameter: 3× Earth standard
  • Mass: 9× Earth standard
  • Gravity: Normal
  • Atmosphere: Normal
  • Day Length: 32 hours
  • Year Length: 766 days

Description:

An oceanic world where 97% of the surface is water. The planet experienced catastrophic gravitational disruption when a black hole passed through its system. Ancient civilizations constructed massive pylons to stabilize tectonic plates and serve as space elevators connecting to four high-altitude spacedocks at the atmosphere's edge.

Historical Society:

Two sapient civilizations coexisted before the Gap—aquatic peoples and clockwork mages inhabiting floating cities. The clockwork scholars agreed to help construct the stabilizing pylons in exchange for control over space elevator access. This arrangement eventually created a rigid caste system with oppression of underwater workers, leading to devastating civil conflict. All inhabitants perished when rebels destroyed the floating cities and clockwork mages poisoned the planet's waters.

Current Status:

Recently discovered as a dead world approximately one year ago. Pact Worlds explorers established base camps within the spacedocks. The Aspis Consortium conducts salvage operations searching for technology and artifacts, though numerous agents have disappeared. Notably, one clockwork city survived, with inhabitants transformed into mechanical constructs and recently emerging to reclaim their world.

Settlements:

None currently inhabited

Urrakar

Location/Region: The Vast

Physical Characteristics:

  • Diameter: 2/3 Earth standard
  • Mass: 1/2 Earth standard
  • Gravity: 1G
  • Atmosphere: Thick
  • Day length: 12 hours
  • Year length: 412 years

Description:

Urrakar is "the lone planet of the Urran system, which is composed mostly of asteroid belts and dense cloud rings." The system's location appeared simultaneously on multiple planetary databases shortly after Triune devotees distributed Drift beacons throughout the galaxy, though the source remains mysterious.

The planet orbits far outside its star's habitable zone. Its dense composition maintains a molten core through tidal heating and radioactive decay, keeping surface temperatures barely above freezing. A strong magnetic field provides radiation protection despite the planet's distance from its star.

The world is characterized by volcanic activity with "hot springs, massive cinder cones, and vents" creating a dense atmosphere with metallic odors and frequent ash. The sun appears dimmer than a full moon; darkness dominates, with "weak connections to the Shadow Plane" in shadowed regions.
